About the job
Job Description Summary
Enterprise Optimization Research Scientist role is part of Enterprise Optimization Research lab within GE Aerospace Research Digital and Electrical Systems organization. As an Enterprise Optimization Researcher you will have the opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary research teams and develop and apply robust algorithms to enhance system performance of large complex systems driven by GE Aerospace and US Government technology needs. Candidates for this role should have strong theoretical background on algorithm development and have strong interest to learn deploying algorithms in scalable cloud and distributed computing environments within enterprise systems.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Working closely with business stakeholders and project team members to meet project deliverables. The employee will need to work independently as well as in a team to develop and deliver solutions in systems technologies including modeling, simulation, optimization and data analytics to develop technology differentiation for GE products and services.* Develop quantitative simulation and hybrid models of complex physical-business systems, calculating the key performance metrics [throughput, inventory, operating expense, fulfillment, risk & return, etc.* Develop integrated discrete-event and agent-based simulations that call other decision support or sub-system models such as optimizers, engineering design tools, handling time constants from sub-second to lifecycle. And develop these integrated simulations to be called by financial value optimizers* Contribute to development and writing of internal and external proposals.* Patenting your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals* Research and develop tools, frameworks and processes to improve analytical methods, performance, scale and sophistication of algorithms, simulations and systems applications* Code ancillary support (Java, C++, Python, R, MATLAB) for the integration of simulations/analytics/optimization models into middleware, data bases and decision systems* Clearly and professionally communicate progress and results of your research with the team, business leaders, customers and technology providers* Develop, verify, and validate analytics to address customer needs and opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Management Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or closely related field or MS degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Management Science, Operations Research, Computer Science or closely related field with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an industrial setting* Demonstrated capability to rapidly develop simulations of assets being used in processes, connecting assumption and real-time data, post processing analytics* Demonstrated capability in developing discrete-event and/or agent-based simulations using AnyLogic, ProModel, Arena, Repast, or any other simulation languages* Demonstrated capability to configure analytical workflows that orchestrate data and analytical modules such as simulation and optimization applications* Demonstrated development skills and documentation capability in Java, C++, Python, R, etc.* Demonstrated systems thinking and applied decision support for operations optimization Demonstrated hands-on analytical software development skills for conceiving solutions and implementing algorithms for decision support system(s)* Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.* Because of the specific categories of data handled by GE Research and the structure of our work environment, we are unable to accommodate employment of persons while they are considered nationals of embargoed countries subject to restriction under the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 CFR Section 746 et seq.
