About The Role
The Senior Decision Scientist - Marketplace will be responsible for owning marketplace analytics and decision automation, bridging the gap between business strategy and technical data science. This role combines the full spectrum of analytical and decision science skills to assess the competitive landscape, optimize marketplace performance, and drive sustainable growth for Arches. The ideal candidate will excel at developing and implementing advanced models for price optimization, forecasting, market-share acquisition, and personalization while also delivering strategic insights on product selection, merchandising, and overall marketplace health to executives and business leaders. Reporting directly to the VP of Data, this individual will play a critical role in advancing Arches’ data-driven culture and operational excellence.
What You’ll Work On
• Own (develop, deploy, improve) models for price optimization, market-share acquisition, demand forecasting, and personalization to improve marketplace performance and customer engagement.
• Own competitive landscape analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth, including pricing strategies and product selection insights.
• Own marketplace health metrics by designing and implementing decision-support tools that monitor supply-demand dynamics, conversion rates, and take rate performance.
• Own experiments and simulations to assess the impact of pricing, merchandising, and product selection strategies on marketplace outcomes.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to implement advanced analytics and automation tools that enhance marketplace efficiency and scalability.
Your Areas Of Expertise
• Expertise in marketplace analytics or decision science, with a focus on forecasting, personalization/recommendation systems, and pricing/conversion modeling (5+ years).
• Experience with competitive analysis, identifying opportunities for differentiation and growth through data-driven insights (5+ years).
• Proficiency in designing and analyzing experiments (e.g., A/B testing, multivariate testing) and using statistical methods to evaluate and optimize marketplace strategies (4+ years).
• Programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages for developing and implementing models for personalization, pricing optimization, demand forecasting, etc (4+ years).
• Advanced data manipulation and visualization skills using SQL and tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker for building dashboards and presenting insights (4+ years).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex data models and analysis into actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams and executives.
Compensation & Benefits
At Arches, we offer competitive compensation and benefits designed to support our employees’ well-being and growth. The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000. Final offer amounts are determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
